An inline (linear) capping machine is an automated module within a filling line that applies various closure types to bottles or canisters after filling. Containers move through the machine in a straight line, enabling a continuous product flow.

These machines are highly flexible and can handle different closure formats, including screw caps, press-on caps, dip-tube closures, and special caps. Modern inline cappers often use servo drives to ensure precise torque control and allow quick changeovers to different container sizes. Optional steps—such as inserting stoppers, droppers, or dust caps—can also be integrated.

Typical applications:

  • Food and beverage (e.g., oils, juices, sauces)
  • Chemical industry (cleaning agents, lubricants, paints)
  • Pharmaceuticals and cosmetics (syrups, lotions, shampoos)
  • Operations with variable closure formats and high throughput requirements

Standards and safety considerations:

  • CE marking in line with the Machinery Directive
  • Hygienic design for food and pharmaceutical applications
  • ATEX versions available for potentially explosive products
